Imagine being in a room filled with empowering women like Oprah or Tyra Banks, well that was the dazzling reality for a few at this special event! The Women That Soar Awards was held on Saturday, Nov. 10th in the heart of Dallas. The award show was hosted by none other than the one-and-only Tyra Banks! Tyra embodies what it means to be a woman who soars and inspires many women throughout the entire world, and for many, it was a breathtaking moment to be in the presence of this fashion legend and all the other iconic women. Our dear beloved friend, Kathy Fielder, was honored in receiving the Entrepreneur Award. Kathy is the true definition of a role model, she is looked up to by many fashion enthusiasts and entrepreneurs in the Dallas community. She started off her first design firm at the age of 22, called Studio Interiors. This was the foundation of her skyrocketing career success and much more. Kathy has been nominated as a Rising Star in 2017 in the category of Interior Design, the award being distinguished by a number of Fashion Group International members. It brings us such a great thrill to have this innovative, persistent, and empowering woman that we call a friend, be recognized for such prestigious awards. The 11-year anniversary of Women That Soar was a special night celebrating amazing women all from different types of socio-economic, cultural and racial backgrounds. "The mission of Women That Soar is to empower and encourage all women to feel confident in their unique talents and capabilities, to understand the power of unity and to be strong in their journeys to productive, enriched live." This award show was nationally televised, reaching and empowering many women from all parts of the nation. Other special awards that were given out that night, featured a group of dynamic women - Zainab Salbi received the 2018 Business Award, Jaha Dukureh received the 2018 Global Activist Award, Jennifer Yuh Nelson received the 2018 Entertainment Award, Nana Amoako received the 2018 Mentorship Award, Debra Caudy received the 2018 Community Outreach Award, and Nancy Borowick received the 2018 Humanitarian Award.
