A Broadway Favorite, The Color Purple, Pops into Dallas

Dallas Summer Musicals is pleased to announce that The Color Purple has arrived in Dallas. Based on Alice Walker’s Pulitzer-prize winning novel and the Warner Bros., Amblin Entertainment motion picture, this Tony Award-winning musical about a young woman’s journey to love and triumph in the American South will be gracing the stage of the Music Hall at Fair Park until Feb. 4. With cast members previously starring in Broadway hits such as Aladdin, Rent, Shrek: The Musical, and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, you don’t want to miss this American classic.

This international revival tour of The Color Purple played on Broadway for 483 performances and was adapted for the stage by Tony and Pulitzer-winner Marsha Norman. Brought to you by Tony Award-winning director and scenic designer, John Doyle (also the director of Sweeney Todd), the Color Purple went on to win two 2016 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical, two Drama Desk Awards, including: Outstanding Revival of a Musical, the 2017 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album and a Daytime Emmy.
