Koch was kind enough to answer a few questions for a quick interview:

1. Which do you prefer or think you are better at drawing? Calligraphy or flowers?
Hm, this is hard. I feel like I am good at both and I don’t hate what I do. What I love about both.. I love to teach lettering and I love how flowers are relaxing and I don’t have to really think while drawing them.
2. What will you talk about on the panel at the Flea Style Summit?
That it’s really not about the years or the number of followers, I have way less than some business owners and feel like I am and have accomplished so many things. Really really hard work, really does pay off and the importance of networking. If you don’t network and surround yourself with the right people you will not grow.
3. Your book is getting glowing reviews. Are you going to hold a workshop at the Summit and teach attendees how to draw, too?
That would be fun and I’m totally open to it! We are still working out the details.
4. What advice do you have for anyone trying to start their own business like you did?
Be persistent and get yourself out there. Introduce yourself to anyone and everyone because you never know who they may know, send people/companies something as a gift, etc. Make sure you have a good support system and you surround yourself with other entrepreneurs.
