We love a list and a Best in Dallas list is even better!
We’re here to share a few favorites from local pop-electronica artist jACQ! Her debut five- track EP, “Cosmic Affair,” drops this Friday, June 30. Her music has been featured on Billboard’s Top 20, Spotify’s Top 50, BBC Radio 1 and Beatport as #1. She’s Dallas’ best kept secret and today we’re sharing her best kept Dallas secrets!
jACQ highly recommends Divino’s Pizza for the authenticity not only in the food but in the atmosphere. “It’s a mom and pop shop that makes tasty New York-style pizza as well as other Italian dishes,” she told us. “They’ll make it how you like it and they deliver.” jACQ’s go- to is a pepperoni pizza with jalapenos, black olives and mushrooms.
“The margaritas and the savory green micheladas made with salsa de tomatillo are my fav,” jACQ said. She also raved about their “great tequila selection.” El Bolero Cocina Mexicana is jACQ’s top spot for cocktails. Don’t just take her word for it, check out their Happy Hour weekdays from 3 to 6 and try the drinks for yourself!
“The Dallas Contemporary always seems to have really interesting and beautiful art that comes through,” jACQ told us. One that particularly affected her was the Mario Testino exhibition she saw in 2014 which features photos of people dressed in traditional Peruvian clothing. She said it was her “ultimate favorite.”
“I love shopping vintage!” jACQ exclaimed. “Lula B’s is my fav spot for clothes, furniture and decor. My favorite shop is inside of Lula B’s downstairs called Space 137. It’s like walking into a time capsule.” Her insider tip? “Ask for Tracy; she’ll help you find anything!” she said.
On The Move: The Fitness High “Shop and Squat”
“The Fitness High ‘Shop and Squat’ is a fitness boutique on wheels that gives you the opportunity to shop the hottest active sportswear after your workout,” jACQ said. “Adriel Sims leads the high-energy workouts at various parks and locations throughout Dallas.” The electronica-pop goddess recommends keeping up with them on Adriel’s Facebook page where she posts where the next location will be.
