We love a list and a Best in Dallas list is even better! Today, we’re sharing Dallas favorites from Lisa Jenkins, the owner of the Dallas Academy of Music and Performing Arts (DAMPA) in Snider Plaza.
An award-winning, veteran producer, and journalist, Lisa opened up the Dallas Academy of Music and Performing Arts (DAMPA) in 2015. Boasting over 400 students, the Academy offers a variety of lessons for all ages in performing arts and music, including private and group lessons. They are currently the only school in the Dallas area offering the baby and toddler program, Music FunTime, an early learning curriculum based on years of research out of John Hopkins University. Lisa recently opened a second location of the Academy in order accommodate the growing student body. For the summer, the Academy is offering several camps that are fun for the kids and perfect for moms who might need a little “me time.” Read on for Lisa’s Best in Dallas favorites!
In the heart of Bishop Arts District, Eno’s Pizza is a perfect stop whether it’s date night, family dinner or weekday lunch, Lisa told us. Featuring gourmet thin-crust pizza and craft beers, it’s perfect to enjoy “sitting outside on the picnic benches,” she said. This poppin’ pizza haven is a neighborhood favorite.
In Lisa’s opinion, DAMPA’s Tap Fit class is “a total jam session with your feet and a great way to really sweat!” Strengthen your upper body, quads and all three muscle groups in that booty while having fun in the process. She loves this fun local calorie burn the most.
Lisa recommends the Strawberry Rhubarb Margarita from Gemma and we’re licking our lips just thinking of this refreshing summer cocktail. Camarron Blanco Tequila, strawberry, rhubarb simple syrup, lime make it simply perfect. Basil and salt top it off.
DAMPA music director and guitar instructor David Brown is at the top of Lisa’s creative list. “It’s not just strumming,” she told us, “your brain will WORK and you’ll be learning something cool too!”
“I love going out for great music and flicks,” Lisa said. Dallas’ historic concert venue The Kessler is the ultimate date night spot for this creative gal.
