With FGI Rising Stars Awards under its belt and tomorrow afternoon’s FGI Scholarship Competition on its way, Fashion Group International (FGI) Dallas is sure to impact the Big D in a memorable way this year.

On April 21, the FGI of Dallas is set to host their Scholarship Awards at the Dallas Market Center and we have an inside look at the annual competition from two FGI Scholarship award-winning designers themselves!

Students this year are not only being awarded scholarships; once again there is an opportunity for one budding designer to study at the Paris American Academy and an extremely exciting addition: an apprenticeship with Dallas-bred designer Khanh Nguyen, known for her gorgeous ready-to-wear line Nha Khanh.

Guests will get to witness life-changing moments for students and an incredible fashion show. This year’s event features a Project Runway-style competition hosted by celebrity judges including Tina Craig, Marissa Howard, Martha Tiller and many more. Khanh and Dawn The Savvy Stylist’s Dawn Mellon will co-chair.

“I’ve entered this competition since my freshman year because of the Ultimate Paris Scholarship,” Venny Etienne of LeVenity told us, who won third place in the sportswear category in last year’s competition. “I also won the Best of Sewing award that provided me with the Pfaff Industrial serger machine, which I still use to this day.”

“I entered as many categories as I could because I was so passionate about winning the opportunity to study at the Academy,” designer Tiffany Girard told us, who was another multi-winner from 2014. “I knew it would be a life changing experience. I felt a calling to be there in my soul and I wanted to do whatever it took to increase my chances of making that a reality.”

Kudos to the FGI Scholarship Award, we’re all for supporting young designers and making creative dreams come true. For tickets to tomorrow’s event and more info, visit https://fgischolarship.org/.
