We’ve got Fashion Week and Shark Week; brace yourselves for the newest “week” we didn’t know we needed. We’re so excited that Dallas will be home to the very first Pilates Week!
Scheduled for May 1-6, the event was created by local pilates aficionado/instructor Alexia Hammonds. Having recently started her online fitness experience, Pilates Live, Alexia sought ways to further promote the activity she adores.
“After creating Pilates Live, I wanted to create a week where pilates professionals and enthusiasts come together to enjoy free classes, bond and share with each other,” Alexia told us. “I’m known to be a connector and it’s important to me that there’s a stronger sense of community within the industry I love so much.”
Better yet, all funds will benefit the Pilates Youth Organization, whose mission is to help form healthy habits in children in underserved areas through–you guessed it–pilates. Pilates Week is gaining attraction from all over the nation and creating a new wave of fitness craze right in our city! Get ready for seven days of virtual pilates sessions, educational workshops, giveaways, raffles, cocktail parties, “looks of the day” and much more.
For those who want to continue pursuing pilates after all the fun is over, Alexia stresses the importance of finding a classical pilates studio that teaches true to the original method created by Joseph Pilates. She lists Muscle Activation Dallas, Fort Worth Classical Pilates and Dallas Pilates as just a few of many studios in DFW!
“Be patient and kind to your body while learning new things,” Alexia said.
For a stylish spin on the sport, Pilates Week has partnered with Bandier in Highland Park Village, Alexia’s go-to for workout wear. From Alo to Michi NY, Bandier has it all to keep you looking cute during Pilates Week and beyond.
