We love a list and a Best In Dallas list is even better! Today, local photographer and photojournalist Brent Baxter is here to give Dallas’ best beards and hidden gems a shout out. Read on for Brent’s Best In Dallas list!
DFW-based photographer Brent Baxter is back with his second-annual coffee table book, celebrating our city’s most interesting beards and the men behind them. Earlier this month, the father of two hosted a successful soirée at The Rustic celebrating 20 of the “Best Beards In Dallas” where over 600 people partied in the name of men’s health and one of his subjects, Richard Rawlings himself from the hit TV show “Fast ‘N Loud,” offered to donate a whopping $20,000 if Loyal Sally bandmates cut off their beards. They stood up to the challenge and shed their facial hair, five years in the making, enabling Rawlings to kickstart men’s health initiatives through The Movember Foundation. Brent, a creative mind with a big heart, has a passion for capturing true life moments but he’s also a big fan of its eats, beats and apéritifs. Read on for his Best In Dallas list!
Brent likes to keep it close to home when it comes to comfort food. His favorite spot to gobble up burgers, fried catfish and fluffy waffle fries is his hometown sports bar ICE House in Sachse. The boombox is a plus, but Brent insists his favorite part about this down-to-earth spot is its “great food and people.”
Artistic Addiction: Aerial Photography
“My most recent addition is aerial photography,” Brent told us. These days, he can be found taking sky-high pics of downtown Dallas and local landscapes. “It’s crazy cool to scope things out from a different point of view. I feel like a kid again operating these drones!”
Of the serene spot in Richardson, Brent said, “my favorite thing about this park is the waterfall. It’s peaceful.” The scenic spot boasts a creek with a gorgeous waterfall running through the wooded walking trails. “Every now and then when I feel stressed or anxious I’ll just go sit by the waterfall and let the sounds of running water drown out my thoughts.”
