The holiday season is all about cheer, celebration and, of course, glitter. This time of year calls for bolder makeup looks that you wouldn’t wear on just any night out. Whether you’re into a smoky eye, glammed-up sparkles or vampy lips with bold lashes, New Year’s Eve is the perfect time to embrace your inner diva. We stopped by our local Make Up For Ever beauty shop for not one, but two glam makeovers that will make you feel fab as you ring in 2017!

With the expert advice of Make Up For Ever’s head makeup artist Laura Neely and the help of Courtney Powers, the beauty shop’s boutique manager, we achieved the perfect dewy complexions. Topped off with glittery, sultry eyes and a mauve lip, our Publisher Amber was NYE ready, flaunting what Laura called a “classic lift.” By using multiple textures (shimmer next to matte), adding a defined crease and a pop of color, the beauty guru was able to show off her unique eye shape. Inspired by Lana Del Ray, Amber’s look was meant for the dance floor.

I opted for a bold berry lip and a softer smoky eye. By mixing primers, they were able to tackle two of my biggest skin concerns: under eye dryness and occasional redness. A lip color that pops and stays on for eight hours? Count me in. The one-stop beauty shop was able to color correct and moisturize by using their Skin Equalizer, which comes in different formulas addressing most popular skin concerns: mattifying, smoothing, hydrating, redness correcting, and more. Pro Tip: Use primer first to triple the power of your foundation and improve its long-lasting effects.

With bold, falsies and a bold lip, I felt very Scarlett Johansson. I have on Lash Show in N-404, a pair that gives you a little drama without looking too overdone. I got so many compliments on them! The shop has a huge selection of handmade false lashes, perfect for any NYE beauty look. Pro Tip: Courtney’s trick to long-lasting lip color is to use the brand’s Aqua Lip after filling lips in with waterproof Aqua Lip Liner. Flaunt bright lips for up to 12 hours with this technique without reapplying – even after eating and drinking throughout the day.

The best part of our makeover? Learning how to use the products! At Make Up For Ever, their motto is education first. The local shop offers what they call Make Up School, group classes every Monday at 7:30 p.m. for only $25, or private classes for larger parties. Students receive 20% products during the mastery class. Popular classes include Red Carpet Beauty, Highlight/Contour, Natural Beauty, and more. You’ll be provided with tools and steps necessary to recreating the beauty look. For more information on Make Up School, click here. Final Pro Tip: Stay true to yourself and do what makes you feel most beautiful – don’t blindly follow beauty trends. Highlight one feature at a time and don’t be afraid to break the rules during the holidays!
