Fall In Love With West Village’s New Designer Destination: SHOPSEPTEMBER

The temperatures may not show it, but fall is in full swing! Designer destination and West Village transplant, SHOPSEPTEMBER, has relocated from their former Snider Plaza location to the shopping hub – just in time for fall. Opened just a few weeks ago, the contemporary label paradise is home to labels from all over the world including Des Petits Hauts from France, Berlin-based accessories brand Liebeskind, Melissa footwear, female-led emerging brand epicenter Saylor, playful line Sam & Lavi, Senso and local jewelry line City + Sky. The perfect shop for finding eclectic statement pieces and basics for every season, SHOPSEPTEMBER also offers on-site stylists for your wardrobe needs.

The fashion savvy woman behind the brand, Laura Curler Petter, sat down with us at DFW Style Daily to dish about their fav fall finds and designer duds. Read on for the skinny!

DFW Style Daily: What fall trends is the SHOPSEPTEMBER currently eyeing?

“We’re loving the Victorian and Renaissance elements that we saw on the runway. We’ve got gorgeous bell sleeve detailing, capelets and velvet in rich, saturated hues. Chokers have been everywhere for a while and we’ve got stunning, hand beaded options from New Friends Colony. Statement furs are strong this year and we have beautiful candy colored faux furs from Des Petits Hauts as well as unexpected color-blocked fur pieces from Elliatt. The off the shoulder trend continues from summer and we’ve got super comfy soft sweaters that capitalize on the trend.”

How do you train your on-site stylists?

“We take training very seriously. Each stylist at learns the brand history for every line we carry and spends hours trying on merchandise to fully understand how each and every item fits. Understanding the back story behind a garment as well as the way it fits different body types is essential to helping our customers find pieces that are perfect for them. It’s not about making a sale; it’s about making our customer feel incredible.”

How do you pick the labels sold in your West Village shop?

“I’ve always had a thing for unique, harder to find labels and styles. As a shopper, I love finding items that I know nobody else will have and I wanted to carry that over into the mix we have in the store. We’re super excited to be adding new brands like Elizabeth and James Eyewear, Zadig and Voltaire, Senso, and Paper Crown to the mix for the upcoming season!”

What kind of woman is the SHOPSEPTEMBER customer? 

“We see our customer woman as someone who has her own sense of style and is always looking to discover something new and unique. We like that little bit of quirk. Think Rooney Mara or Cara Delevingne.”

What price point would you say your boutique has?

“We try to keep the store accessible for a variety of budgets. We are very focused on quality. Most customers will find amazing pieces from $75-$300 but our range is from $25-$800.”
