The annual Accessory in the Nude Fashion Showcase (AIN) is back! This year’s theme “The Great Gatsby” ensures guests will be dressed to the nines, eagerly awaiting designs from this year’s local lineup: Tru Anjl, Donna Rose, Edo Popken of Switzerland, Danh Ta, Pink Lucy, and Persona Custom Clothiers. Taking place at the African American Museum of Dallas on Grand Ave., the event will kick off with a VIP Reception from 6:30 to 7 p.m. with doors opening to the general public at 7 p.m. and the fashion portion beginning promptly at 8 p.m. This year’s event will be hosted by local radio personality of K104‘s “Dede in the Morning,” Dede McGuire and produced by a close friend of DFW Style Daily, Willie Johnson.

Read on for an interview with AIN Fashion Showcase creator Meko Krout King and Johnson, the show’s talented producer. King insists that this year will be bigger and better than the last, with new opportunities for design competitors and an over-the-top event for ticketholders.

DFW Style Daily: Tell us why you chose this location.

King: “Each year we choose a place that is artistic or has rich local history; with this year’s event taking place at The African American History Museum, it gives our guests a chance to learn more about Dallas’ history and culture.”

Tell us more about how tonight’s production ties in with this year’s theme “The Great Gatsby.”

Johnson: “When I first walked into the venue, the first thing that came to me was Great Gatsby, meets Old Hollywood with a modern twist. The ceilings, the staircase, and the balcony gave it so much grandeur that the only thing I saw was beautiful flowing gowns, and girls and guys walking up and down the runway.”

What inspired you to create AIN in the first place?

King: “In my past life, I owned a boutique and worked as a fashion stylist. I wanted to create a brand that would highlight accessory designers and that’s what AIN is all about. The brand not only highlights designers but assists them in building their brand to increase visibility for their product line. The event is 100% funded by me, so I see it as my way of giving back to others.”
