Think you can’t pull off a trend over 40? Think again. Today, we’re sharing our second collaboration with two seriously FAB over 40 Dallas fashion bloggers, Heather Anderson of So Heather and Tiffany Davros of Street Style Squad. The fashionable duo recently showed us how to sport a crop top at any age and now they’re back with “The Edit,” proving that women of any age can pull off vintage denim. Not all of us have the patience to weed through racks of vintage clothes at the thrift store. Read on for a few tips on pulling off the trend without the hassle!
Tiffany recommends dressing your vintage denim up with a pair of heels (fringe heels for bonus points!) or down with sneakers. By now, you know we’re obsessing over white sneaks, so that’s no surprise. Currently, the FAB brunette is obsessing over this pair from RE/DONE, made from repurposed vintage Levi 505s and 501s. Tiffany insists vintage duds can be figure flattering and these jeans with a baby belly flare and side slit prove her claim to be true. Named after Swedish model Elsa Hosk, this style is so near and dear to the blogger’s heart that she has them in black too! Paired with a RE/DONE 1960s slim tee in Vintage White or Hanes vintage white tee, they look effortlessly chic.
Heather, who’s also wearing RE/DONE denim, insists that they’re the ultimate “cool-girl jean.” Comfortable and cute, her favorite quality about this style is the slight flare and high-rise waist. Both bloggers recommend ordering a size up with RE/DONE denim and pair them with everything from a white tee or lace-up top, a silky bomber jacket, and a velvet choker.
Just in case you’re not about to snag the pair above, we’ll give you ladies a tip. Look for vintage Levi’s sporting these style numbers: 501, 505, and 551 from the ‘80s era. They offer a classic and versatile look and work for many body types. 505s have a zip fly, making them snugger in fit (great for thinner gals!), 501s have a button fly, allowing more room for a bigger booty and 551s are great if you’re petite because they come in petite and long inseams and tend to have a more feminine fit. Levi’s have a cult fashion girl following and it’s well-deserved, their straight-legged style, long inseam, and high-waisted rise make them entirely swoon-worthy.
As a matter of fact…we have a special scoop on a brand new, highly curated vintage shop (with killer denim!) coming out next week – so stay tuned! There are a plethora of vintage shops in town, chock full of great finds, such as Dolly Python, Buffalo Exchange, or Thrift Town.
Dying to try out another hot trend, but can’t quite figure it out? Comment on our post to suggest another tricky trend for ladies over 40 and we’ll ask Heather and Tiffany to show us how it’s done!
