The world of athleisure is about to get in “Formation” thanks to a new line from Queen Bey herself. Read on for more on her new line Ivy Park, officially in stores last Thursday, April 14.
The BeyHive has been buzzing with anticipation ever since Topshop’s Sir Philip Green, chairman of Arcadia Group, announced their collaboration with Beyoncé last year, and now the wait is finally over. While there have been rumors circulating for a while about the specifics of the line for months, Beyoncé officially introduced Ivy Park via Instagram to her 67.3 million plus followers. The 200-piece activewear collection is now available at Nordstrom in NorthPark Center, and online at Topshop, Net-a-Porter and Nordstrom.
“I reached out to Topshop and met with Sir Philip Green,” Beyoncé told ELLE Magazine in an exclusive interview. “I think he was originally thinking I wanted to do an endorsement deal like they’d done with other celebrities, but I wanted a joint venture. I presented him with the idea, the mission statement, the purpose, the marketing strategy—all in the first meeting. I think he was pretty blown away, and he agreed to the 50-50 partnership.”
The line features workout essentials such as leggings, crop tops, T-shirts, headbands, etc. in sizes XXS to XL. Ivy Park, named after her daughter Blue Ivy Carter, will have something for every size and budget, ranging from $30 to $200. Beyoncé has never been shy about her stance on empowering women, so it comes as no surprise that the Ivy Park collection is a reflection of her views.
“My goal with Ivy Park is to push the boundaries of athletic wear and to support and inspire women who understand that beauty is more than your physical appearance,” said the “Single Ladies” singer in a statement. “True beauty is in the health of our minds, hearts, and bodies. I know when I feel physically strong, I am mentally strong and I wanted to create a brand that made other women feel the same way.”
If the Beyoncé stamp of approval for this line wasn’t enough to make us want to purchase at least one pair of Ivy Park leggings, the message and inspiration behind the line make us want to purchase as many pieces as possible. View the full collection on Refinery29 here.
All hail Queen Bey.
