We spy the upcoming Fashion: Cited fundraiser on the horizon, celebrating its 10th year as the signature fundraiser for Legal Hospice of Texas on Friday, April 22 at the Frontiers of Flight Museum. This year’s “Spy on Fashion”-themed show will feature 20 designers and brands from the Dallas area, as well as local celebrity models, a silent auction and “spy” goodies for guests.
Fashion: Cited producers Francisco Flores and Cathy Garcia have gathered a record number of designers to showcase their collections at this special anniversary event, created together a decade ago. Garcia, Flores, and Jeff Cook, Flores’ husband and a former client of Legal Hospice of Texas, created Fashion: Cited as a thank you to Legal Hospice of Texas for the invaluable legal services they provided to Cook and continue to provide to members of the community who are HIV-positive or terminally ill. Read on for this year’s designer reveal and more on the annual event.
The impressive 2016 selection of designers and brands will feature both womenswear and menswear by Edo Popken of Switzerland, Cathy Garcia, Francisco Flores, Jonathan Aparicio, Keyla Garrido, Elvira Diez, Haggar Clothing Co, Yomono, Cynthia Maxwell, Petit Atelier, ES Collection Dallas, Mario Alberto, Maker & Company, Haas, Marek+Richard, Bladi Duran, David Johnson and Winifred Liao, Zulma Pineda, Morgan Powell and Norma Cuevas Villanueva. Working alongside Garcia and Flores to pull off this year’s event are fashionable co-chairs Leah Frazier and Vanessa Lua and host Alison Volk.
“When they asked me to be involved I knew it was a cause I wanted to support,” Volk said of emceeing Fashion: Cited 2016. “I have a personal connection to Fashion: Cited because I’ve been through hospice, for my best friend, my mother and my godmother. I cannot imagine not having the financial resources to manage everything entailed in hospice care.”
The Legal Hospice of Texas fundraising season kicked off in January this year with the Little Black Dress Party, where local designers presented their take on the classic LBD and guests were invited to vote for their favorite frocks.
All benefits raised at Fashion: Cited will go to Legal Hospice of Texas, a nonprofit law firm that provides free legal counsel, representation, and advocacy for individuals who have been diagnosed with terminal diseases or HIV-related diseases.
