We love a list, and a Best In Dallas list is even better. Read on for today’s local insider picks:
Says girl boss Brittani Rettig of her split and super-fit personality, “I’m 50% entrepreneur and 50% party-starter, best known for leading fierce workouts and treating everyone like family.” A Harvard Business School grad, she is the founder of GRIT Fitness in East Dallas. The unique boutique workout destination recently marked a successful first year with a packed Vino & Vinyasa celebration.
Brit’s studio is somewhere to let your hair down, turn the neon lights up, and dance like nobody’s watching. The rule applies to Kickboxing, Dance Club Cardio, Hip Hop, Barre and all other classes in GRIT’s high-energy schedule. Looking ahead, the entrepreneur recently announced a second, 5,000 square foot GRIT location opening this summer in the Dallas Design District. The sibling studio is set to expand offerings to include an original group cycling concept called “GRIT Revolution.”
As we eagerly anticipate this coming debut, today we feature Brit’s irresistible Best In Dallas list:
Foodie Favorite: Oddfellow’s
Brunch at this Bishop Arts District mainstay is homey and downright delicious. Of her go-to order, Brit proclaims, “One fried green tomato B.L.T. sandwich, plus two Mimosas, equals my kind of party.”
Bargain Hunter: Luxury Garage Sale
Snider Plaza’s new consignment spot caught this stylish gal’s eye when she made the leap into entrepreneurship, leaving her 9-to-5 behind. She recalls, “When I went from a career in management consulting to being a fitness entrepreneur, I consigned my Céline and Chanel heels and stocked up on Nikes instead!”
On The Move: GRIT Fitness
Brit’s favorite – and, as she says, “super classy” – workout activity is taking HIIT at GRIT on a sunny day. “We like to take class outside to the parking lot and blast music from my car speakers,” the owner exclaims.
Artistic Addiction: Lenworth “Joonbug” McIntosh
“I recently discovered Dallas artist Joonbug, and I’m going to beg him to paint the walls at GRIT,” said Brit of this newfound favorite. Jamaican-born and Dallas-raised, Joonbug’s art was recently featured in LAB ART Texas’ “Dallas Is Dallas” exhibition.
Brain Candy: The Common Desk
This Deep Ellum spot is a hub of creativity. “I love to sip coffee and read leadership books at this hip coworking space,” reveals our hard-working expert. “The décor is amazing, and I feel super-studious whenever I’m there.”
Cocktail Culture: Howard Wang’s Uptown
Finally, at the end of a long day, Howard Wang’s Uptown is Brit’s very chic happy hour destination of choice. Of her favorite Asian-inspired post-workout cocktail, she raves, “I absolutely love Howard Wang’s Lychee Martini!”
