Nicole Kwon Builds Your Fall-Winter “Cool Girl Uniform”

Just shy of its third birthday, the Nicole Kwon Concept Store has built a loyal – some might say obsessed – fan base since opening in November of 2012. Inside her Uptown Dallas boutique, the owner of the same name stocks a curated, decidedly NYC-leaning selection of clothing and accessories. Think A.L.C., Rachel Comey, and LaMarque. Awards, as in D Magazine’s Best of Big D, have come on a regular basis over the last three years, as have trendsetting finds from Kwon’s keen eye. Her early prediction of the Mansur Gavriel bucket bag’s blockbuster success, for example, bordered on ESP. Today, she’ll tune that radar just for us. Take note, because an interview with this proprietress is a rare commodity, indeed.

“Dallas is full of unique personalities,” stated Kwon to DFW Style Daily, reflecting upon the past three years, and looking ahead. “We do not cater to just one type of woman, so we are always able to find something that makes the modern-day woman comfortable in her own skin.” To that end, she has hand-selected the following items to “build your cool girl uniform” for the coming fall and winter, or falliday, season. Consider these items for vacays, parties, or just walking around and looking really damned cool.

First up, Kwon highlights Rachel Comey’s wide leg Legion Pants. “At Fashion Week, the ‘70s were in full swing,” she explains. “The modern woman needs to feel comfortable with her shape, and these pants emphasis the waist while being quite flattering.” Top the pant with a new coat by IRO. Our expert points to the Dafny in Burgundy as a current best seller, noting, “The shearling lining is beautiful, and the color is so rich. I don’t often see a coat with such incredible leather detailing.”

“Wearing white in the fall can be done,” Kwon asserts as she continues her list. “The Ford Crossover Cropped Sweater and Cook Skirt by A.L.C. will make anyone stand out at a party.” Over top, she picks another standout in outerwear, H Brand’s Ashleigh fur coat.

And last but not least, we learn of a hot item that Nicole Kwon has shipped as far as England and France from her Dallas boutique, Martiniano’s High Glove heels. From a perennial best-selling brand, the new gold tone of these Italian kid leather kicks makes them perfect party shoes. And, with that, your cool girl uniform is set for the season.
