Representing not only an epicenter of fine shopping, but a public showcase of an internationally acclaimed art collection, NorthPark Center is a beloved Dallas treasure. Celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year, NorthPark is marking the milestone with an unprecedented series of art, culture, fashion, and philanthropic initiatives. This Friday, October 9 and Saturday, October 10, the festivities continue with what promises to be our city’s “biggest fashion and shopping event of the year.”
Opened in 1965, NorthPark Center is now North Texas’ top tourist destination, and one of the top five performing shopping centers in the United States. Earlier this summer, Nancy A. Nasher (pictured below), co-owner with her husband, David J. Haemisegger, welcomed a who’s-who of local media and philanthropic leaders to launch NorthPark50: Fifty Years of Giving, benefiting 50 organizations for 50 days.
This stunning philanthropic program, ongoing through October 28, continues to help area nonprofits reach new audiences and raise funds for important causes. In addition, NorthPark has also celebrated its golden anniversary with several special exhibits and events, with even more in store. Next up, Fifty Years of Fashion will comprise two days of runway and beauty shows, in-store offers, and much more, focusing on the most glamorous aspects of any trip to this shopping Mecca.
Kicking off this Friday, October 9, NorthPark Center’s Fifty Years of Fashion celebration begins with back-to-back shows. A free multi-brand fashion show, featuring Banana Republic, Dillard’s, Gap, Macy’s, and Pinto Ranch Fine Western Wear, will take place at 3:30 p.m., followed by a free Toni & Guy hair show at 5 p.m. On Saturday, October 10, a Nordstrom beauty trend show starts the day at 10 a.m., followed by a full slate of catwalks by Mulberry, CUSP by Neiman Marcus, Roberto Cavalli, and more.
Throughout the two-day event, dozens of in-store offers, gifts with purchase, and charity donations will be ongoing. For example, shoppers can scoop up a free keychain with any purchase at Michael Kors, as well as complimentary jewelry cleaning and hand engraving of up to three characters at Tiffany & Co. Bread Winners Café will donate 10% of cake sales to the Ronald McDonald House, and J. Crew will support JDRF Greater Dallas Chapter. And the list goes on and on.
