Prabal Gurung to Receive Honor at Fashion Group International of Dallas’ Night of Stars 2015
Taking place Friday, November 13, the Fashion Group International of Dallas Night of Stars Gala is a can’t-miss annual event for area fashion fans and industry insiders. Just fresh off of celebrating its milestone anniversary last year, 2015 will usher in yet another internationally renowned designer guest.
Announced July 13, Prabal Gurung will receive this year’s Career Achievement in Fashion Award from FGI Dallas at Night of Stars 2015. A designer to the stars, Prabal Gurung cemented his position as an exceptionally talented designer since his early days of interning for Donna Karan. From his work with Cynthia Rowley to a later stint with Bill Blass, the award-winning designer launched his namesake collection in February of 2009 and never looked back.
Gurung’s eponymous women’s wear collection is sold in over twenty countries and is consistently worn by the likes of Michelle Obama, Sarah Jessica Parker, Oprah, and more. Embodying more than just his knack for design, the talented designer embraces a willingness to give back by vocally and actively providing support for the Shikshya Foundation – an organization that aligns with strategic partnerships in providing education and support to children in Nepal. As a brand ambassador and board member for Shikshya, Gurung recently assisted with the successful fundraising efforts that followed the devastating earthquake that shook Nepal this past April.
“Not only is Prabal Gurung an influential designer in today’s fashion world, he also has a strong commitment to make a difference in the global community,” says Chuck Steelman, Regional Director of FGI of Dallas. “We are thrilled to be honoring such a talented designer who has also made a significant difference in the lives of others.”
Gurung will be in attendance at downtown’s Fashion Industry Gallery to receive the Career Achievement award on November 13. Additional Night of Stars Gala information will be announced on Thursday, August 6 at a cocktail reception at Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Dallas. Tickets are limited for the gala, and expected to sell quickly. For more information visit dallas.fgi.org.
