California Clothing Retailer Planet Blue Takes On Texas With Dallas Debut

The rain keeps comin’ here in Big D, and there must be something in the water. Last week, we filled you in on massive expansions in store at the Shops at Park Lane. This Monday, we revealed a headline-worthy designer pop-up in downtown Dallas. Today, we have news of another anticipated addition to our resident retail scene. Better strap on your shopping shoes – er, galoshes.

Set to open next month, Planet Blue will fall into orbit with the likes of The Gypsy Wagon and Vintage Martini in Knox-Henderson's all-star line-up. Touching down at 3010 North Henderson Avenue, to be exact, the California import represents the latest in a long line of launches for the 20 year old “beachy boho” brand.

Founded in Malibu in 1995, we can humbly report visiting the original Planet Blue boutique at the Malibu Country Mart while on vacay (more than) a few years ago. The experience was definitely one of planetary proportions, opening our eyes to many covetable collections. The mix was easy-breezy chic in that singular Southern California way, long before anyone had heard of fashion blogs or Blake Lively. We fell in love at first shop. Fast forward through the years, and the Planet Blue galaxy has expanded throughout California, as well as Scottsdale, East Hampton, and Japan. The coming Dallas location will be the first in Texas, and one of six stateside openings planned in the next few months. Can you say big bang?

And what can the brave first explorers to Planet Blue Dallas expect? Think 3,200 square feet of women’s clothing, swimwear, and accessories from favorites like Wildfox, Free People, and Rory Beca, as well as Blue Life, Mara Hoffman, For Love and Lemons, and more. We predict a warm welcome from locals for this new arrival, and the feeling is mutual. In the words of Vice President of Retail David Lindell, “Planet Blue loves Dallas! We see the Dallas customer in our store daily, and also feel their strong support in our online business, so we can’t wait to return the love by bringing the good vibes to Knox-Henderson.”

Aw, shucks. Now we really can’t wait for July. In the meantime, may we recommend studying up on the culture and climate of this new planet by scoping out Alessandra Ambrosio’s exclusive collection online? It’s both hot and cool, just like Planet Blue.   All images via Planet Blue.
