Belk Welcomes Mobile Mammography Center to Galleria Dallas with Pat Smith on June 3
|
The fight against breast cancer is one that attracts widespread attention and unwavering support year after year. While often highlighted heavily in the month of October, awareness initiatives continue throughout local communities on a daily basis. Always one for fostering both local and national support, Belk is partnering with Pat Smith (pictured below) and her Treasure You program, to encourage area women to participate in a free breast cancer screening at the Belk Mobile Mammography Center. Smith, an advocate and long-time supporter of breast cancer programs, was 22 when she lost her mother to breast cancer, and has actively participated in initiatives ever since.
Taking place Wednesday, June 3, the Mobile Mammography Center will park in front of Belk at Galleria Dallas for a day full of free breast cancer screenings for the community. Heading to Texas for the first time since its inception in 2013, the Belk Gives on the Go Mobile Mammography Screening has proudly screened 7,400 women, with even more to come during its stops scheduled in Dallas (June 3), Rockwall (June 5), Kerrville (June 10), and New Braunfels (June 11).
Sounds like a worthy cause right? The Charlotte-based department store announced its partnership with Pat Smith and Treasure You to specifically educate the women of Dallas on early detection. During the day-long tour stop, free mammograms will be offered to women over the age of 40 with no breast cancer concerns, and who have not had a mammogram within the last 12 months.
Licensed, female mammography-certified technologists from Charlotte Radiology will be on hand to conduct the screening exam, with a board-certified radiologist specialized in breast imaging, interpreting the results thereafter. For more information and to register for an appointment in advance, interested participants can call 855-655-BMMC. Appointments are required for all mammography screenings.
