Local Saveur: Uptown Farmers Market Lands in Dallas’ West Village March 28

Locally known as one of Dallas’ most walkable districts, Uptown’s West Village continues to experience dynamic growth and opportunity since its inception in 2001. As area communities, vendors, and restaurants continue in initiatives towards farm to table concepts and organic living -- a growing hunger for a healthier lifestyle proves to be more pressing now than ever. In partnership with Uptown Dallas, Inc. and in response to local demand, West Village will now introduce the Uptown Farmers Market, set to officially launch in the South Alley of the center on Saturday, March 28.

West Village spans nearly 250,000 square feet in Uptown with close to 100 shops, restaurants, and personal care retailers in operation. Strategically centralized within the neighborhood, the Farmers Market will be located in the South Alley, between the Village’s more popular restaurants and the Magnolia Theatre. Running every Saturday through October 2015, this newest addition to the Village promises more community engagement, local support, and healthier eating initiatives. As with the Downtown Farmer’s Market, Uptown has now responded to community demands for natural food sources and organic produce grown locally. In line with the concept, participating vendors are regional farmers and businesses that produce and grow their food within a 150-mile radius of Dallas. The market will offer the expected in seasonal fruits and vegetables straight from regional gardens, while specialty food vendors including local favorites Steel City Pops, Round Rock Honey Co., and Bisous Bisous Patisserie aim to spice up the market for an eat-as-you-browse, yet flavorful experience.

Adding to an already addictive shopping atmostphere, shoppers will not only enjoy the tastings and fresh finds of the Farmer’s Market, but can also dabble at local food trucks parked alongside Lemmon Avenue, as well as groove to live music performed by Dallas musicians. As West Village continues in its efforts for community growth and strategic expansion, the new Farmers Market is welcomed with open arms as a seasonal staple for Uptown, adding depth to a tastefully diversified shopping experience.

The Uptown Farmers Market will run every Saturday beginning March 28 through October 2015. Hours are from 8 a.m. to noon. For more information and for a full list of participating vendors, visit the Uptown Farmers Market Facebook Event page.
