Though the summer sun still shines here in North Texas, we at DFW Style Daily are looking forward. Today, our F/W 2014 Trending series continues with key fashion trends for the season to come. Take note, and you’ll be ahead of the style curve come fall.
The Age of Elegance rings softly this fall season as lingerie-inspired garments slip out of the bedroom and into the light. Often transparent, with a luxurious hand, the look is fashionable, alluring, and delightfully versatile.
The word lingerie derives from the French word linge
, meaning ‘linen’. While applying to all undergarments in its original usage, visually appealing creations were first introduced during the late nineteenth century. In the decades to follow, items once designed to merely give shape or add a layer of modesty took a starring role in a woman’s wardrobe.
Today, we see silk kimonos and tapestry bedroom jackets, vintage-inspired lace, and Gatsby-esque
slip dresses evoking the 1920’s. Hardly the stuff of fantasy any longer, we spied the look on designer runways galore for Fall 2014. Read on for runway inspiration, plus two buy-it-now, lingerie-inspired finds.
