|
Fans of offbeat holidays – present company included – look forward to the likes of National Apple Pie Day and National Pillow Fight Day to perk up our regular routines. A new addition for our annual lists has a superhero spin, and will be celebrated in singular style at Dallas’ own Mockingbird Station this week.
Officially declared by DC Comics, Wednesday, July 23 will mark the first National Batman Day. The Dark Knight is turning 75 this year, and comic book retailers and bookstores across the country will mark the occasion with special edition issues and collectibles featuring everyone’s favorite mysterious-millionaire-turned-crime-fighter. Ka-Pow! That kicks National Cupcake Day in the fluffy frosting.
What’s more, Keith’s Comics right here in Big D is partnering with the Angelika Film Center at Mockingbird Station to add a Halloween-style spin to the holiday. A screening of Batman (1989) will be followed by The Dark Knight (2008), and fans who arrive in costume can score superhero swag from Keith’s. Now, where’d we put our cape and tights?
The fun begins at 7 p.m. this Wednesday, July 23 at the Angelika Film Center at Mockingbird Station. Tickets are just $7. Click here for additional information, and Happy National Batman Day!
