Now in its sixth year, Fashion For A Passion has established a reputation for celebrating the work of Dallas-based Asian American designers. A true passion project of Against The Grain Productions (ATG), proceeds from the annual runway show and fashionable fête benefit the non-profit’s mission to promote awareness and unity of Asian American culture, artistry, and identity.  

  For the past several years, DFW Style Daily has been on the scene at Fashion For A Passion. We’ve fallen for highlighted designers, including Lucy Dang, Jerry Matthews, and Khanh Nguyen of Nhã Khanh (pictured below). Serving as a springboard for emerging talent, many Fashion For A Passion designers have launched booming brands following their appearances. Lucy Dang, for example, took top honors in the 2013 Texas Next Top Designer competition, and went on to win Belk’s Southern Designer Showcase. Nhã Khanh has evolved into a red carpet standout, loved by celebs and carried at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue.  

  Fashion For A Passion 2014 will continue ATG’s series in style, while putting a spin on year six with a new venue and fresh designer line-up. Mark Saturday, November 1, with a gold star on the calendar, and note Three Three Three First Avenue (333 First Avenue, Dallas) as the location of choice. Returning emcee LeeAnne Locken will be joined by co-host Elizabeth Dinh of KTVT CBS 11. Presenting designers will also include new elements of bridal wear and jewelry. The 2014 Fashion For A Passion presenting designers include Becky Hollands, Jerry Matthews of Nine Muses, Brandy Pham, Mai Pham, Hue Tran of Lizzi London, Vatana Watters of Watters Bridal, and Dora Yim of d.p.c.  

  “It’s hard to top ourselves each year, but we always manage to add a unique twist that keeps things interesting for our audience,” says Tammy Nguyen Lee, ATG President and Founder (pictured above). “This year is no different, and you won’t want to miss what we have in store.
