Blaine Muhl of Blaine Bowen Jewelry Picks Big D Bests For Food, Shopping & More

We love a list, and a (Secret) Local List is even better. Today, DFW Style Daily’s exclusive series continues with more expert recommendations for local dining, shopping, and more.

Channeling her loves of art, fashion, travel, and philanthropy, Blaine Muhl turned her globetrotting tendencies and “zest for life” into a dream job with the launch of Blaine Bowen Jewelry. Today, what began as a unique translation of the designer’s colorful cultural experiences has developed into a full line of covetable jewelry.

There’s no doubt Muhl is growing her Dallas-based brand by leaps and bounds - and touchdowns. Recently drafted by the Seattle Seahawks’ Richard Sherman, Blaine Bowen Jewelry became a part of the Super Bowl winner’s official gear in May. What’s more, with her Pay It Forward Collection, the designer supports charities including Free The Children and the African Wildlife Foundation. Muhl’s thriving business is leading the local field of creatives, and today the entrepreneur reveals her latest inspirations and top haute spots to DFW Style Daily.

Foodie Favorite: Though she admits to indulging every now and then on so-called “cheat days,” Muhl tapped True Food Kitchen as her go-to healthy eating option. Of her top picks at the Preston Center eatery, she notes, “I am addicted to the Medicine Man blended juice and the Red Chili Shrimp with noodles.”

Go-To Boutique: Calling out a favorite among her fellow (Secret) Local List confessors, the designer named Milk & Honey as her top shopping resource. “I went for the first time recently, and bought everything I tried on,” Muhl raves. “The summer buy is great, and the price point is absolutely awesome!”

Décor Devotion: For her top pick in the home accents category, Muhl also has high praise. “I love Design Within Reach, and I scored my antler pendant chandelier there. For me, it’s a one-of-a-kind, keep forever and possibly-be-buried-with-it item,” she enthuses of the Knox-Henderson shop.

Best Buys: Labeling it a “no brainer,” Muhl turns to Pinterest and a host of local bloggers for uniquely thrifty ideas. She adds, “I’m definitely obsessed with recreating Pinterest finds for less, and I love following D Magazine’s ShopTalk blog and Lolo Magazine.”

I Heart Dallas: Finally, of her most beloved Metroplex destinations, today’s local lists two top faves. “First, I love the Mesquite Rodeo,” says Muhl. “My first trip was pretty much the best day of my life. I also adore The George W. Bush Presidential Center.” On a parting note, this up-and-coming design entrepreneur cited the former POTUS as the man she’d most like to have as an honorary grandparent!   Blaine Muhl headshot, credit Stevan Koye.
