Snazzy Hats By Local Celebs Raise Funds, Awareness For Skin Cancer Research
Rallying around an important cause as the spring sun begins to shine, local celebs and designers have turned out one-of-a-kind toppers for an auction to benefit the largest international foundation focused on melanoma research.
May is Melanoma Month, and skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. In fact, one in five members of our community will develop skin cancer in the course of their lifetime. When left unchecked, it can be deadly.
In partnership with DermOne Dermatology Centers, a fashionable team of local trendsetters has signed on for a creative initiative to raise awareness and funds for this serious cause. The Gotta Hat It Auction kicks off tomorrow, and bidding wars will surely ensue over the sensational, celeb-designed sunhats up for grabs.
Among the local luminaries who have put their signature spin on items for the auction are Miss Texas International 2014 Rachael Lynee Burns, Texas Next Top Designer and Belk Southern Designer Showcase Winner Lucy Dang, DFW Style Daily highlighted designer Charles Smith II, and HGTV personality Leslie Ezelle of Leslie Christine Designs. Select hat designs are featured herein.
For more information and to place a bid, head to www.32Auctions.com/GottaHatIt starting May 1. The auction extends through May 30, and proceeds will benefit Dallas-based AIM at Melanoma, the largest international foundation focused on melanoma research, education, legislation, and awareness. Capping off this creative fundraiser, DermOne Dermatology Centers will match the highest bid (up to $500) at the auction’s close.
