Fine Jewelry Designer Carinthia Kishaba Shares Favorite Local Gems
We love a list, and a (Secret) Local List is even better. Today, DFW Style Daily’s newest series continues with more personal recommendations for local dining, shopping, and more.
In the business of bling since 2001, Carinthia Kishaba dreamed of becoming a designer while shining brightly as a retail leader for jewelry boutiques across the country. After carefully cultivating her aesthetic for nearly a decade, Kishaba’s creative ambitions became a reality when she and her mother co-founded Couture Rocks Fine Jewelry in 2010.
Focusing on limited edition and one-of-a-kind pieces, the entrepreneur crafts her own custom creations in-house. Through Couture Rocks, she also sources luxurious finds for clients from additional top tier labels. When she’s not on an obsessive quest to score the “perfect piece” for one of her many devotees, Kishaba finds inspiration around the Metroplex. Today, she’s revealing all that glitters in our own backyard with a roster of sparkling local recommendations.
Foodie Favorite: Citing the restaurant’s farm-to-table concept and delectable seasonal menus, Kishaba craves Fort Worth’s Ellerbe Fine Foods. “Always order the special,” she recommends. “And plan on making reservations a month or two in advance - it's that good! Plus, the wine list is to die for.”
Designer Connection: “I’m a regular at The Pink Hanger in Colleyville,” shares the always-stylish Kishaba. “When I want really beautiful, special pieces, I also call on local designers including Edgar Gómez, Ashlee Brooks, and Eric Renteria.” (Pictured above: DFW Style Daily Spring Editorial featuring Eric Renteria)
Always Entertaining: St. Michael’s Woman's Exchange in Highland Park Village is this local’s choice for home décor, paper goods, linens, and entertaining staples. Elaborating on the shop’s selection and services, she explains, “Don't let the plain name fool you. This is an amazing store, and they will beautifully wrap anything you bring them!”
Best Buys: “I'm a total internet shopper when it comes to great deals,” enthuses Kishaba. “I love Touch of Modern and 1st Dibs. From uber-contemporary finds by Kubikoff, to all things Hermès, they’ve got it. There seem to be new sales every week.”
I Heart Dallas: Finally, as a long-standing member of the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, today’s trendsetter recommends the venue’s Cool Thursdays Concert Series, which returns on April 10. She suggests, “Bring wine and your best friends, or take your kids along for family bonding and some outdoor playtime.”
