“Natural beauty is far more impressive than beauty created in an office.” – Connor Tollefsrud
Welcome to Face Time. DFW Style Daily’s exclusive series goes beyond the runways and picture-perfect shoots to get to know top Dallas models on a personal level. Why? Because there’s a hell of a lot more to making it in one of fashion’s most competitive fields than just a fit figure and nice hair. For example, many models embark on a would-be career at a very young age. They must cultivate professionalism and perspective and maintain complicated schedules, while managing school and home lives. Today, we’ll feature one such new face from one of Big D’s newest agencies, Amores Model Management. Read on for Connor Tollefsrud’s thoughts on deal-breakers, plastic surgery, and more. Were you discovered or did you pursue modeling as a career? Connor Tollefsrud: “I was discovered by the owner of Amores Model Management, Luis Basteri, at age 16. Then, I had my first shoot with photographer Jamie Luca from Los Angeles.” What is the most challenging aspect of your job? “Capturing the right emotion that needs to be portrayed in pictures is sometimes a challenge, but I handle challenges very well.” Are there any "deal breakers" for you when it comes to job requirements? “As long as I’m having a good time at a shoot or on the job there shouldn’t be any deal breakers.” In your opinion, what is the biggest misconception about models? “Usually, models have a reputation for being gentle and womanly, but that certainly isn’t the case with me. I am neither of those things.” Would you ever consider cosmetic surgery? Why or why not? “Absolutely not. I wouldn’t consider the option. In my opinion, natural beauty is far more impressive than beauty created in an office.” What is your dream assignment, or who would your dream client be? “As far as my dream assignment, I don’t have anything specific in mind, but it would involve traveling to Europe to explore different cultures and people. It’s always a new learning experience, traveling in another country, and it can be a profound experience in your life. As for a client, I would have to say Calvin Klein, since I’m a fan of the clothing and how they portray their image.” Do you have a personal role model? What have you learned from his or her example? “My personal role model is Dolph Lundgren. Watching him in interviews, movies, and reading about him inspired me to perfect my physique. He also inspired me to reach my full potential in anything I do such as school, working out, and in life as a whole.” Tell us something surprising about yourself. Do you have any hidden talents, for example? “As for interesting things about myself, I could tell you quite a few. I play guitar, I’m very athletic, and sports have always been a part of my life. I’m also a well-traveled person, even at 16-years-old. I’m into extreme sports as well, such as car racing, skateboarding, and long boarding.” If you had a free afternoon or evening in Dallas, how would you spend it? “A free evening in Dallas would include me hanging with my friends and calling some honeys - making the best of that night, as we may never get it back.” All images courtesy of Amores Model Management.
