Veronica Torres Touts Fitness & Design, Asian-Style
Veronica Torres personifies the active lifestyle she advocates, artfully balancing a demanding corporate role with entrepreneurial endeavors in the health and wellness industry. Torres, an Austin native, champions her adopted hometown of Dallas as the Director of Business Development for the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau. With energy to spare, she’s also developed a fierce fan following through her blog, Healthy Latina Lifestyle and Rock Star Fitness Camps, co-founded with husband Ade Hazley.
Poised to launch a new brand in 2014, Torres and Hazley are preparing to open V12 Yoga at the Dallas Farmers Market this spring. Indeed, Torres’ personal passion for yoga has led to a posh obsession she’ll confess to DFW Style Daily today. Find out which far-flung finds have this Dallas mover-and-shaker entertaining an international affair. Click here for more DFW Style Daily Obsession Confessions!
The Obsession: Indulging her cultural cravings, Torres has developed an addiction to Asian-inspired style and design.
The Confession: “I am totally obsessed with Far East finds for my home, and I’m currently collecting Buddha statues, Patchouli-infused candles, and beautiful coffee table tomes by my favorite Yoga gurus,” detailed the fitness pro.
The Rationalization: “My affinity for Asian culture was inspired by my father and grandmother, both of whom have passed away,” explained Torres of the sentimental significance of her interest. “I’ve always worn Patchouli scents because they remind me of my Dad, and I inherited my grandmother’s taste in art and sculpture.”
The Collection: Though she frequents Metroplex boutiques to score imported oils, incense, décor, and stylish yoga gear (more on that below), the most important piece in Torres’ collection is a family heirloom. “My grandmother had this huge Buddha in her home,” she recalled. “My grandfather gave it to me so that I could install it in my yoga studio when we open this spring.”
Shop It: Torres shops Whole Earth Provision Co. in Dallas (pictured above) for home accessories and athletic apparel. You may also spot her hitting Mockingbird Station staples Victoria’s Secret and American Apparel for versatile yoga gear and unique scents.
