Without a doubt, one of our favorite Dallas fashion events is the Pin Show. The annual designer showcase falls somewhere between independent runway show and performance art, carving a high-energy niche all its own on the local scene.
Now entering its sixth cycle, the Pin Show has just released date, location, and designer details for 2014. In past years, founder and Executive Director Julie McCullough has tapped diverse venues, from a luxury downtown hotel to a remote industrial warehouse. Needless to say, we were on the edge of our seats to learn where she’d drop the Pin next year. Mark the date of February 22, 2014 on your calendar, and as for the spot, it won’t disappoint.
The Good Year Plant (960 Dragon Street) sits in the heart of the Dallas Design District, offering some 30,000 square feet of space in which the Pin Show team can play. McCullough, along with Creative Director Mike Arreaga, Producer Tracy Harwood, and Runway Talent Director Willie Johnson, promises the “largest show ever” in this vast new locale.
And as for the fashion, some 23 designers will showcase six original looks each at the 2014 Pin. “After a record number of applications, it was a very difficult [decision],” McCullough explains. “The show will include 15 new designers and eight veteran designers, featuring menswear, women’s ready-to-wear, avant garde, bridal, jewelry, handbags, intimates, and resort wear.”
The coming group includes many DFW Style Daily highlighted designers. We look forward to seeing the work of Tracy Popken, Nikki Duong Koenig, Venny Etienne, and Jesse Thaxton. We’ll surely come away with a few new favorites as well.
