DFW Style Daily: How would you describe your personal style?

Taylor J. Booth: “Fashion rests on my skin. Whatever I wear best expresses my personality.”

Name a person who helped to shape your style perspective.

“I would have to say my mother. She raised me to be a classy, clean-cut guy, and dressed me in suits and ties until I was old enough to dress myself.”

Let’s head back in time for a moment. Do you remember a favorite ‘first day of school’ outfit?

“The first day of school was my ultimate favorite. I put so much time and effort into my outfit every year. My high school days are kind of vague, but I remember specifically one of my college first day looks. It was a scorching hot summer day, so I pulled out my tailored linen suit, crimson striped bow tie, and chocolate wing tips. Let’s just say I turned many heads that day – even professors.”

What was the first item of clothing you remember purchasing for yourself?

“If I had to go with the most memorable, I’d say my green snake-print Cole Haan wing tips. They were the most expensive and colorful shoes I’ve ever bought. My hometown is pretty closed-minded when it comes to fashion, so I was sure to stand out with that purchase. But, that’s always been my goal when it comes to my style anyway.”

Do you follow any hard-and-fast wardrobe rules?

“When it comes to my style, I follow no rules and set no rules. My wardrobe continues to evolve over time. What I wore last year, I may not even look at twice this year. It all depends on my mood and the occasion.”

Did you ever follow a passing trend that, in retrospect, you might reconsider?

“Every now and then I follow a trend, but for the most part I just wear what works for me. Looking back, however, there are a few trends I’d probably reconsider. One in particular would be airbrush clothing. That trend was big in my hometown for a while, and I got a whole suit airbrushed one time and I thought I was super fly.”

How did you feel when you learned you had been named one of Galleria Dallas and DFW Style Daily’s Best Dressed 2013?

“It felt amazing! I just recently moved to Dallas, and to have something of this stature bestowed upon me is truly an honor.”

What aspect of this program is most significant to you?

“I love the scouting aspect. We all love to go shopping, so I think it was clever of DFW Style Daily to use this method to select their final best dressed honoree.”
