Watch Out, Joan! FGI Dallas Names 2013 Fashion Police
|
Joan who? Here in Big D, we answer to our own Fashion Police.
Officer Cynthia Smoot, in fact, is ready for action. “Halt! You are under arrest,” the blogger wrote on her popular site, Oh So Cynthia, last Friday. “I am now officially a member of the FGI Fashion Police 2013!”
No surprise that such an influential trendsetter has been named to the ranks of Fashion Group International of Dallas’ yearly philanthropic squad. Though they may not actually carry cuffs and badges, these Fashion Police have an important job nonetheless. Over the next few weeks, the team will raise funds and awareness in advance of FGI’s annual Fashion & Lifestyle Awards Night of Stars Gala, taking place Friday, November 15th.
Joining Smoot is an all-star cast of fashionable locals. They include Scott Finfer, Dan Pritchett, Jennifer de Soccaraz-Flemming, Hamilton Sneed, Rachel Roberts, Tre Wilcox, Rhonda Sargent Chambers, Jim Duran, Crystal Wilson Herrera, Janet Fresquez, and LeeAnne Locken (pictured above, from left).
For Chambers, a DFW Style Daily Contributor and event producer extraordinaire, this call to duty builds upon longstanding relationship with FGI. “Supporting Fashion Group International has been a 30-year commitment for me,” she explains. Each spring, we eagerly anticipate Chambers’ multi-scene mega-show for FGI’s Dallas Career Day (pictured above). Night of Stars directly funds that effort, which in turn distributes some $40,000 in scholarships to area fashion students.
Supporting the Fashion Police is easy. Purchase a ticket to Night of Stars via Eventbrite, and prepare to experience one of the best fashion events Dallas has to offer. Co-chaired this year by Chuck Steelman and Katy Messersmith-Mattox, the gala will fill the Grand Pavilion at the Dallas Trade Mart with a most glamorous crowd. Honors will be bestowed upon local luminaries in design, retail, media, and more, plus an extraordinary silent auction and runway show are not to be missed. Congratulations to the 2013 Fashion Police!
