With temps expected to top 100° this Saturday, August 10th, the idea of combining a weekend shopping trip with a cool summer dip sounds mighty appealing. Thanks to the return of the Design District Market, both are an option in one handy location, complete with free brews and food trucks.

The indoor-outdoor fun begins at noon this Saturday at the Dallas Contemporary (161 Glass Street). Shopping options will include area vendors both big and small, from Elements and Indigo 1745 to indie jewelry designs by F. Is For Frank. Live music will also keep things local, with bands representing Dallas, Denton, and Fort Worth. Street eats by Easy Slider and the aforementioned complimentary beer from Ben E. Keith will be on tap throughout the afternoon.

Last but not least, the Design District Market’s ‘dumpster pool’ already has the city buzzing – or at least cautiously curious. Outfitted with a deck and a swim-up bar, the unusual, first-to-market attraction is sponsored by Progressive Waste Solutions.

Founded in 2012, the Design District Market aims to stimulate community involvement by connecting neighbors will local businesses. Entry is free. Click here for complete details.
