DFW Style Daily: At what age did you begin modeling? Tell us about your first job.
Carlotta Lennox: “At age 17, while living in Miami, I was hand-selected and flown to Paris, France by the French designer Paco Rabanne. This was my first time in France, and the first time to open up for an
Haute Couture fashion show.”
What do you think is the biggest misconception about models?
“(1) That we never eat. (2) That you cannot make a career out of being a model. (3) That models are just party animals.”
Describe your most exciting assignment so far.
“While in Paris, I was selected to be the fit model for
Yves Saint Laurent. For days, I would go to his mansion and he would sketch his
Haute Couture collection from my body measurements. It was such an honor to watch him create his collection.”
How do you prepare for a job?
“First, I make sure that I have all the information for the job from my booker - the time, location, and ‘brings.’ I also find out if there will be a hair and make-up artist on set, or if I will need to come hair and make-up ready. If I have to come hair and make-up ready, I make sure I know the hair style the client wants, along with the make-up look. I also get a manicure and pedicure. The night before, I pack everything that I will need for the job. I make sure my shoe bag is organized, and all my shoes and boots are in good condition. I research the designer or client beforehand to familiarize myself with their collection. I make a really healthy dinner, and I go to bed early.”
What is the craziest/silliest/most unusual thing you have done on a job?
“While on a photo shoot in South Beach, I was wearing a bikini and six-inch heels, holding onto a Great Dane while walking in the middle of Ocean Drive. Quite the excitement!”
What is your dream modeling job?
“My dream modeling job would be as a spokes model, having a camera crew follow me around the world as I visited the finest resorts and spas while telling everyone about my experiences. My dream client would be
Richard Branson. I love his hard work, innovation, and his laid-back disposition.”
Name a person whom you admire.
“My Dad, Gene Lennox. He taught me work ethic, and he told me that nothing in life is free, but if you work hard and stay the course you can achieve whatever you want in life. He also told me never to take any wooden nickels.”
Are there any ‘deal breakers’ for you when it comes to job requirements?
“Yes - nudity.”
What did you have for breakfast?
“Coffee, cheese enchiladas, guacamole, and chips.”
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
“I enjoy creating and coming up with new ideas. I enjoy gardening, grilling, bike riding, watching mindless TV, and hanging out with my daughter and husband. I am also currently working on a talk show that is being produced by Deborah Stone. I will keep you updated!”
