What do you get when you mix fantastic art with live music, over two dozen food trucks, outdoor movies, and entertainment for the whole family? One damn good time in downtown Dallas!
You have to hand it to the Dallas Museum of Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center, and the Crow Collection of Asian Art. They really know how to throw a party. Every third Friday of the month, these neighboring Arts District museums waive their general admission fees and keep the doors open until midnight.
We recently experienced this stylish monthly happening, where we witnessed fun-loving patrons enjoying the museums’ exhibits and catching a free outdoor movie on the lawn. Kids can get involved as well, through themed arts and crafts projects. Not to mention, there were too many food trucks to count. (No one saw that third taco, anyway.)
Klyde Warren Park joins in, with live performances and games. Bring a blanket and the dogs!
DallasSITES: Charting Contemporary Art at the Dallas Museum of Art is stunning.
Also at the DMA, we recommend The Body Beautiful in Ancient Greece exhibit.
Terang Bulan: Art from Java and Bali is now showing at the Crow Collection of Asian Art.
These late-night activities are packed, and there is definitely no shortage of fun. Next up is July 19th. Check the DMA’s website for details, because everyone loves a good block party.
