Yummie Tummie Puts The Squeeze On Spanx
It will take more than a little spandex (
groan) to contain this
unwieldy feud between two rival shapewear companies. Patent infringement is the claim of Heather Thomson (
above), founder of
Yummie Tummie, against Sara Blakely of
Spanx, and the legal letters are flying. The products in question include a selection of bulge-busting tanks and camisoles, but to the naked eye, the figures are in Blakely’s favor. Spanx was founded in 2000 to Yummie Tummie’s 2008, but Thompson is taking a firm stand. “We will not allow Spanx to bully us,” reads a letter now marking the Yummie Tummie homepage.

Wintour Takes New Rumor-Busting Role
Via the
New York Times, we learn that
Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour will step into the role of Artistic Director of the magazine’s parent company,
Condé Nast. In addition to maintaining the helm of the fashion pub
par excellence, Wintour will now advise across the board on matters of aesthetics and development. According to the announcement, the brand-new position was created, in part, to lock-in Wintour at the company. For months, rumors have swirled that the 25-year Vogue vet might depart for an ambassadorship. Visit the
New York Times to learn more.
Here We Go Again
Without a doubt, the biggest local fashion news this week was the announcement of yet another Dallas Fashion Week initiative in the works.
Click here for the scoop on DAFA – not to be confused with
DIFFA - headed by local filmmaker David Marlett and Melissa Poe from Big Rich Texas.
Karlie Kloss Bakes Up A Business
Finally, ending the week with dessert, we learn from the
New York Post of Karlie Kloss’ sweet new business. Following their debut at Fashion Week, the supermodel’s Karlie’s Kookies may soon hit a market near you. According to the item, Kloss has been a baker since childhood and her healthy cookie recipe was developed in partnership with the chef at NYC’s
Momofuku Milk. Kloss is currently in talks with
Whole Foods, while our mouths are currently watering.
