Trending: 2013 Oscar Red Carpet Special Edition

It was a shining night for Oscar, as metallic looks dominated the red carpet at Sunday’s 85th Annual Academy Awards. In a nod to Old Hollywood, we were enchanted with a silent film-like palette of black and white, silver and gold. Edith Head would have been proud!

Topping our list were Naomi Watts in Marchesa and Amanda Seyfried in Alexander McQueen.

Always hot Bond girl Halle Berry sizzled in Versace, and Jessica Chastain was perfection in Armani. The actress noted that her gown brought to mind Marilyn Monroe’s “Happy Birthday Mr. President” performance.

Pretty in pastels were Anne Hathaway in Prada, with added Tiffany jewels, and Best Actress winner Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture.

Clad in Dior as well, Charlize Theron danced like Ginger Rogers to Channing Tatum’s Fred Astaire. For the number, she wore a gown very similar to her 2012 Golden Globes Dior choice.

We noted two additional trending color scheme camps on the carpet as well — indigo blues and hot poppys. Hitting it right were midnight hues from Roberto Cavalli worn by Jennifer Hudson and a lovely Marc Bouwer on Robin Roberts.

Heating things up in warmer tones were Kerry Washington in Miu Miu and everyone’s friend Jennifer Aniston in Valentino. Here’s to a magical evening filled with iconic women, each dress framing the actress with precision.
