Back in force for Spring 2013 (Spring!), leather is officially a year-round wardrobe wonder.
For the season to come, many designers delved into the endless opportunities that lightweight leather offers for warmer weather. After all, a chic, fashion-thirsty gal can’t always wait for a cold front. The result has rocker appeal, yet remains elegant and easy. And above all, leather screams confidence.
Lightweight leather and faux leather can be found in shorts, skirts, jackets, tops, dresses, and of course, accessories – and it won’t be leaving any time soon. Fall reports are also full of this staple of fashion.
But first, our favorites for Spring.

Plackets, collars, pockets, cuffs, and hems in leather were key at Fendi.
Leather and lace combined, on Jason Wu’s runway.
Proenza Schouler’s patchworked and perforated patterns show leather craftsmanship at its finest (shown here and at top).
Marni’s supple, lightweight leather trend comes in a color that will never fade.
Shop The Trend
Available at Elements boutique in Dallas, Chris Gramer’s silk sheath features leather details in the most sexy spots ($429, left). This week’s steal is a quilted faux leather skirt ($22.80, right), a versatile find from Forever 21.
