Trending: Rhonda’s Emmy Awards Red Carpet Rundown

Sunday’s 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards combined snickers, suspense, and surprises, both on the red carpet and onstage. …Of course, my eyes were tuned mainly to the former.   Below, find my top spotted trend of the night, plus picks for best dressed, those who failed to impress, and more.       Who says you can’t wear sunny shades in the fall? Yellow was the trending color choice of the night, spotted on many leading ladies. Here, Leslie Mann shines in Naeem Khan.                         On the opposite end of the spectrum, black looked dowdy and heavy on most everyone. An exception to this rule was January Jones in a stunning Zac Posen gown. I loved its masterly crafted lines and feminine edge.                       As for styling specifics, although Nicole Kidman’s dress by Antonio Berardi was breathtaking, her hair fell short, looking rather unkempt.                       Also in the misstep category, Sofia Vergara experienced a much-publicized seat split in her Zuhair Murad. We’ll keep it classy and stick with this front-facing shot.                         Moving on, disliked by many in the fashion press, I begged to differ on the matter of Portia de Rossi’s Valentino pantsuit. I thought she rocked this look, and it was among my favorites.                         Also receiving high marks in my book was Emilia Clarke’s Chanel.                             Representing Dallas glamorously was Jeannie Mai of the Style Network, shining in a gown by our own Nha Khanh.                           A stand-out in the men’s category was Hugh Dancy, shown here looking polished in Burberry alongside better half Claire Danes (in our top trending color).                         Finally, when it came to the best of the best, I disagree with many other experts. Truth be told, I could not take my eyes off of the sparkle! Both Lucy Liu in Versace (lead image) and Kerry Washington in Vivienne Westwood (shown here), were extraordinary.
