Obsession Confession: Kevin Lavelle

Tracking the trends among Dallas’ tastemakers, DFW Style Daily’s Obsession Confession shares the stylish secrets of our city’s chic set. Today, fashion entrepreneur Kevin Lavelle, founder of Dallas-based clothing company Mizzen+Main, reveals the accessory addiction that’s taking over his wardrobe.

Lavelle’s unique label makes the coolest dress shirts available – quite literally. Mizzen+Main’s pieces combine modern tailoring with American-made moisture-wicking fabrics for a cooler feel (pictured above). However, the SMU grad’s current obsession proves that his sartorial look involves much more than simply choosing the right button-down.

The Obsession: Lavelle has an unabashed foot fetish, and he’s addicted to his stylish shoe collection.

The Confession: When asked what fashionable items he’s fixated on this season, Lavelle admitted that he can’t get enough of his “three favorite shoes.” They include leather flip-flops, driving loafers, and cowboy boots.

The Rationalization: “I’ve come a long way since wearing sandals every day while growing up in Florida,” our expert explains. “Though you have to have cowboy boots to live in Texas, a pair of drivers from my wife are my current favorites.”

The Collection: Lavelle prefers Rainbow’s leather sandals when going casual, and for the perfect pair of driving loafers, he recommends the selections at Saks Fifth Avenue. As for his covetable cowboy boots, Lavelle notes that he finds great pairs nearly “everywhere” when shopping in his adopted home state.

Shop It: Check out Rainbow’s comfy selection online at RainbowSandals.com. We adore the narrow strap versions in rich, seasonal shades. And when it’s time to snag heavier footwear for fall, we recommend Prada’s “Scamosciato” suede drivers ($480, Saks Fifth Avenue) and Lucchese’s chic oiled leather boots ($575, Pinto Ranch).

Abby Gregory

Working as a fashion writer has always been Abby Gregory’s dream. It’s also the perfect way to justify her love of shopping, her vintage obsession, and the scandalous amount of time she spends choosing an outfit. In addition to covering all things stylish for clients including NBC DFW and PinkMemo, Abby pens her own blog, Wish For It, featuring haute finds under $100. In her fantasy future, Abby would like to meet Dolly Parton, live in the same town as her little sister, and own a boutique stocked with the amazing things she’s snagged at Goodwill.
