Heather’s Diary: An Anthropologie Debut, Plus Fall Denim-mania
I’ve been waiting for this.
Never mind the weather, fall is rapidly approaching, and this season it’s all about the blue jean, baby. I can barely contain my excitement or the need to get my hands on some of the luxurious new styles we’ll be seeing in months to come. From graphic, photo-like prints to rustic, earth-toned colors, I’m going to need a couple of pairs (at least). But where to begin? Just where can all this dandy denim easily be found?
The answer is simpler than you might imagine.
Hardly thrilled with the thought of driving loops around the city in search of denim, I decided to challenge myself and hunt down all the best fall styles at NorthPark Center retailers. Can you say one-stop shopping? You can thank me later.
The colored denim trend ain’t dead yet. But, as bebe knows, the fall forecast calls for more laundered, darker shades. Canary yellow, ‘90s black, and burnt orange
are right on the money.
High-gloss and animal prints are clear overriding themes this season.
The geniuses at 7 For All Mankind combine them in three fabulous styles,
available at Neiman Marcus.
Also at Neiman’s, J Brand turns out my personal favorite in these baroque beauties.
Intricate prints are going to be huge, and I think there’s no better way to add instant
luxury to your look for a season that will be filled with opulence.
Volume is big this fall and winter. Don’t put away your skin-tight jeggings just yet,
but you may want to invest in a great pair of wide-leg jeans as well.
With a chic and retro feel, this Elie Tahari style is lovely.
The boyfriend jean is getting a pretty makeover for fall. Feminine embellishments
and textures ensure the resulting styles are for ladies only.
Free People has the perfect patchwork pair.
Florals are still in bloom, but just as your winter garden will evolve with the season,
you’ll need to upgrade your jeans. Trade puny petals for a pair with bigger and bolder blossoms.
Urban Outfitters’ BDG label has a vibrant, fresh crop.
Lastly, metallic denim is already trending and will only continue to boom
as the holidays approach. I spied these silver glitter and golden sheen
pairs at Juicy Couture.
Adding to my denim frenzy, NorthPark’s Anthropologie outpost hosted a party last week to showcase a revamp of the company’s own denim line, Pilcro. About 15 of us invitees stopped into the store for an intimate, informative gathering to preview the new collection.
In literary terms, the pilcrow sign (¶), or paragraph mark, symbolizes the beginning of a new idea, and that’s exactly what Pilcro premium denim aims to do. That fresh thought is for women to feel comfortable in any style, and thus wear any style they wish. At $98 a pop, these pants are also an affordable purchase. Handcrafted here in the States by the folks at Anthropologie, Pilcro’s signature fit, “the Stet,” is inspired by the tools of an editor. “Practical and precise, modern and enduring,” goes the description. In other words, your denim just got proofed.
Peaches and Prosecco and Pilcro – Oh, my!
Build your own trail… mix.
A wash for every day.
The clear star of the evening, this wearable yet luscious
printed Pilcro pair may be my new favorite.
