Dallas Personalities, Designers Join Forces ‘For Whitney’ on September 18
|
On Tuesday, September 18th, many of Dallas’ top designers and fashion industry professionals will come together in a show of support for a young woman in need. For Whitney: A Speak Hope Project will combine a fashion show, live concert, silent auction, and more, to benefit Whitney Mitchell.
In November of 2010, a trip to the emergency room for a suspected case of the flu turned gravely serious for this young Dallas woman. Given but a 12% chance of survival, she was diagnosed with a severe case of sepsis, eventually undergoing multiple amputations in order to save her life.
Now 20 years old and under the care of her single mother, Whitney maintains strength and a positive outlook in the face of her struggle. Though medical debt looms, the former college student wishes to return to school. Updates to home and vehicle in order to facilitate a more independent lifestyle are also beyond the family’s budget.
Now, a chance to help Whitney and raise awareness of her cause is but a few weeks away. Sponsored by RSC Show Productions, the Kim Dawson Agency, Heineken, and La Mode Magazine, just to name a few, For Whitney will take place on Tuesday, September 18th at South Side on Lamar.
Featuring the work of top local designers including Abi Ferrin, Elizabeth Anyaa, Isabel Varela, and Shona Gilbert, a live performance by The Maylee Thomas Band is also planned for the one-night-only event. Mistress of Ceremonies LeeAnne Locken and Honorary Event Chair Amy Vanderoef round out this stylish local dream team. Tickets start at just $50.
