Jen Smith of ‘Blank White Frames’ Wins Tootsies’ Top Blogger 2012
Last Thursday evening, June 28th, many of DFW’s up-and-coming fashion bloggers convened on Tootsies for a much-anticipated event. The first of its kind for the designer retailer, the evening also drew a standing-room-only crowd to learn who would be named Tootsies’ Top Blogger 2012.
The nine blogger-contenders included Jen Smith of Blank White Frames, Heather Lettieri of Against The Grain, Allison Edwards of Where Wear In The City, Dora Chu of Couture Vintage by Dora, Amy Havins of Dallas Wardrobe, Jaclyn Welch of Streets of Sparkle, Genniva Bruce of Somewear To Be, Devon Dyer of Devon Rachel, and DFW Style Daily Best Dressed honoree Krystal Schlegel of The Style Book.
In the weeks leading up to the event, voting was enabled via Tootsies’ website, accompanied by photos of each young lady in self-styled Tootsies looks to represent their unique fashion perspectives. Each blogger also encouraged votes via her own online diary.
On the big night, the blogger hopefuls donned their ensembles once again to mix, mingle, and walk in a show. Hosted by yet another notable DFW blogger, ShopTalk’s Raya Ramsey, the presentation also included a style Q&A session with each hopeful. Thereafter, a brief pause was followed by an announcement of the final vote tally.

In the moments before the winner was revealed, Lettieri of Against the Grain shared her thoughts about taking part in the contest.
“It would be awesome to win, I won’t lie,” she stated, clad in a pitch-perfect Brazilian-inspired wrap skirt and scarf-print blouse. “But, the experience alone has been overwhelming. The glam, the buzz, and meeting the other bloggers – everyone is a winner tonight.”
Moments later, the winner was announced.
The title of Tootsies’ Top Blogger 2012 went to stylish Jen Smith of Blank White Frames. Selecting a bit of a “sexy librarian” look for the competition, the recent Houston transplant rocked tailored tuxedo pants with daring, peek-a-boo leg slits.
In our one-on-one chat, Smith stated that winning wasn’t something she expected given her newcomer status, but she went on to wonder aloud whether the honor could be taken as a “Seal of Approval” from the city she now calls home. We’d agreed with her guess, as the crowed couldn’t seem to get enough of the night’s top honoree as the party drew to a close.
