On a recent trip to south Texas, I discovered an artist by the name of Robin Moratti. Her striking works in acrylic and oil pastels are inspired by Matisse, Gauguin, Picasso, and Dalí, but I was fortunate to also explore the wearable art she creates in her “therapeutic moments”.
Moratti’s jewelry line includes elements collected from here and there. Most are up-cycled tidbits, combined with vintage finds, high-quality leathers, semi-precious stones, and 14-karat gold. Each is one-of-a-kind. For example, I fell in love with the Royal Hippie necklace (shown below) featuring suede fringe and vintage rolled chain, reminiscent of Cher’s look on her 1973 Half Breed album cover.
Shop Moratti’s creations via RobinMoratti.com. Prices range from $22 to $48, with ten percent of all sales going to the Spirit Of Sharing Food Bank in New Braunfels, Texas.
