Center came alive with southern charm – quite literally. A night of socializing and socialites, sipping and seeing, was arranged to celebrate Tinsley Mortimer and her new novel, Southern Charm. Co-hosted by the lovely Krystal Schlegel, a DFW Style Daily Best Dressed 2012 honoree, the over-the-top girly occasion attracted a triple-digit crowd.

Mortimer became known on the pages of Vogue, but her “society” roots run deep, with a blood line tracing back all the way to John Mercer (Mortimer’s maiden name), who wrote the first Code of Virginia. She also designs a line of handbags for Japanese brand Samantha Thavasa, and is a beauty ambassador for Dior.
Mortimer’s new release follows the story of one Minty Davenport, a southern California native swept into a rumor-induced whirlwind in the Big Apple. Similarities between the book’s main character and its creator will be noted, for it wasn’t too long ago that Mortimer herself became caught up in the drama-filled world of TV. Following a stint on the soapy serial Gossip Girl, she appeared on a very short-lived CW reality show entitled High Society.
This Dallas book signing event brought out a stylish crowd of some one hundred and fifty-plus, from social mavens to many of our city’s growing crop of young fashion bloggers. Sitting in a pink chair in a tutu-like cocktail dress, Mortimer greeted and autographed copies throughout

the night. From the chatter over Hpnotiq Liqueur-sponsored cocktails, it was clear that many guests had already devoured the book, finding it a delicious vacation-ready read.
