DIFFA Dallas Heats Up With ‘Le Smoking’

Anticipated like no other fashion event of the season, DIFFA Dallas’ annual Collection gala presents one-of-a-kind, celebrity-designed jackets, auctioned to a crowd of our city’s most stylish guests. The upcoming 2012 event will take place on the evening of Saturday, March 31st at the Hilton Anatole Hotel, marking the organization’s 22nd year raising funds for men, women, and children affected by HIV and AIDS.

Joining an all-star team including Chairman of the Board Clint Bradley and Co-Creative Directors and Producers Jan Strimple and Brian Brothers, DFW Style Daily’s Jim Duran has been named Co-Collection Curator of this year’s event.

Inspired by Yves Saint Laurent’s iconic 1966 creation Le Smoking, a fitted, menswear-inspired jacket for women, Smoking Haute: DIFFA Collection 2012 promises a provocative runway show, after party, and more. Guests will feast their eyes on tuxedo-style jackets for men and women created by top name designers, all up for grabs via auction.

“I am very proud of the caliber of the designers that we have brought in this year,” says Jim Duran, who also offered a bit of insider intel for DFW Style Daily readers. He shares that bold-face names designing for this year’s Collection will include Jean Paul Gaultier, Roberto Cavalli, and Diane Von Furstenberg, as well as Brad Goreski and Simon Doonan.

The evening will also honor the memory Alden Clanahan, a devoted supporter of DIFFA.

“Alden’s years of service, dedication, and generosity towards DIFFA Dallas will always be cherished and admired. Not only was Alden a board member, a sponsor, and a patron, but Alden was an angel for DIFFA Dallas,” recalls Board Chairman Clint Bradley.  “To honor Alden’s work and immeasurable impact for those living with HIV and AIDS, we will dedicate Collection 2012 as a celebration of his memory.”
