Oscar Fierro to Compete on NBC’s Fashion Star

Last Friday, we reported a little local buzz that Oscar Fierro might be competing on NBC’s upcoming reality show, Fashion Star. Today, the news has been confirmed.

Come March 13th, the Lewisville-based designer will be featured among 14 hopefuls on the program, vying for the chance to launch collections at Macy’s, H&M, and Saks Fifth Avenue. According the official Fashion Star site, host Elle Macpherson will be joined by “celebrity mentors” Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie, and John Varvatos (pictured above), while representatives from each of the aforementioned retailers will serve as judges.

In a statement to DFW Style Daily, Pin Show founder Julie McCullough Kim shared these words of encouragement for our local contender: ”Oscar Fierro launched his line at the very first Pin Show in 2007, and created quite a bit of buzz with his dramatic gowns and presence. We have seen him do amazing things, and we look forward to seeing how he will represent Dallas and the [local] fashion scene.”

For our part, we can confirm that tales of Fierro’s noteworthy presence abound in the Dallas style set, and we are sure his inclusion in the cast will make for great reality TV. As his official Fashion Star bio puts it, “Don’t expect this self-proclaimed ‘master manipulator’ to back down from anyone – he will do almost anything to win.”
