Trending: Punched-Out and Perforated

A new trend we're watching is truly making the cut. Represented in many designer collections and executed in technical fabrics, we are seeing burn outs, overlays, woven lace and perforations aplenty. Hallmarked by detail, these design methods are intricate, costly, and showy.   This manipulation of fabric was prevalent in the couture lines for Spring 2012. Below, I've compiled a few of my favorite examples from the new season to come, show stoppers in both apparel and shoes.       Alberta Ferretti’s collection was filled with sharp, cut-out details.                   Here we see laser cutting at its finest, in footwear from Alexander McQueen.                 An attention-getting jester jumpsuit was presented by 3.1 Phillip Lim.                   Innocent white eyelet details contrast with a sexy cut-out bodice at Cushnie et Ochs.                   Alexander McQueen’s cutting-edge lingerie look.                   Ocean blue, perforated perfection from Valentino. Everything about this dress is just right - fabric, color, length and style.               Jimmy Choo’s version of an athletic wedge cork bootie is so much fun!                 Finally, I predict this platform by Donatella Versace will be a hot commodity.                 (Photos: Credit Style.com and NeimanMarcus.com)
