Bloomingdale’s Outlets to Open in Dallas and Grand Prairie
In August, we looked into the rumor that a Bloomingdale’s Outlet was coming to North Texas. Today, we have confirmation times two – but we’re still not very excited.
Last week, Baltimore-based Paragon Outlet Partners announced the upcoming 2012 opening of an anchor-sized Bloomingdale’s outlet store in Grand Prairie. Set to debut in August, Paragon Outlets at the intersection of I-20 and Highway 360 will also include such frequent outlet fliers as Tommy Bahama, DKNY, and Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th.
Coming even sooner, another Bloomingdale’s outlet at Dallas’ Park Lane complex, across from NorthPark Center, is slated to open this spring. Both stores will stock men’s, women’s, and children’s apparel, along with shoes, jewelry, and handbags. They will join the chain’s seven outlets already operating, most on the East Coast.
Though we are pleased to have finally landed some form of Bloomie’s here in Texas, these discount versions will likely offer predominantly made-for-outlet goods. Through Racked, via WWD, we learned that the “vast majority” of merchandise at Bloomingdale’s Outlets is manufactured specifically for the off-price market. The split is about 80 – 20, with the final fifth made up of clearance goods from full-priced Bloomingdale’s stores.
