Fashion fans, your wait is (almost) over. The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk opens this Sunday, November 13th at the Dallas Museum of Art.

Read on for exhibit details and ticketing information.

The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk is the first retrospective devoted to the works of this modern-day fashion design icon, known for avant-garde creations and collaborations with international celebrities.

Making its U.S. premier on Sunday, November 13th, at the Dallas Museum of Art, the exhibit includes some 130 haute couture dresses and ready-to-wear pieces spanning the 1970’s through the present day. In addition to 30 animated mannequins, the multi-media experience also presents photographs, sketches, and film and television excerpts – some never before seen by the public.

Running through February 12th, 2012, The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier will make only one additional stop stateside at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, de Young, before heading on to Europe.

Admission to this exhibition requires a special ticket, starting at $16, available for purchase online, at the museum, or by phone at 214-922-1803. Click here for additional ticketing details.

Gaultier merchandise is available for purchase online and at the museum store. We’re willing to bet the tees and totes, especially, will sell out quickly. Moving forward, the DMA will also offer Gaultier-inspired collaboration collections with local designers Shona Gilbert (jewelry), Elizabeth Anyaa (clothing and textiles), and Cassandra MacGregor (millinery) in the near future. We’ll keep you posted on details as they develop.

Finally, we recommend you see this exhibit sooner, rather than later. Dallas is already buzzing, following a week of previews for press and museum members, and The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier will be the fashion event of the season.
